This movie goes from superficial to deep in the blink of an eye, as Jacey's obsession with the Abbott girls drives him to betray his own brother. In spite of the increasing struggles between her two sons, Helen, portrayed by Kathy Baker, a widow and single mom, is incredibly elegant as she does her best to raise her sons.
From the visually impaired point of view. The story was narrated by Doug, the younger brother, which helped me to follow the story. As usual, the first five minutes were silent. Seems like many movies are silent in the first five minutes as the credits are being scrolled over the screen. It's not done to frustrate blind movie-goers. There were only 8 characters in the whole movie, the five Abbotts and the three Holts. That made it pretty easy to discern one character from another. The voices were distinct and there was very little background music to be a distraction. The biggest obstacle was the relentless number of short scenes. New scenes always seem to need a little description from my sighted assistant. There were so many scene changes that I was constantly asking for information.
I'll give this movie a 6. It was challenging, but the content was worth while and stimulating, so I'll encourage you to check it out.
