BLINDSPOTS:
Movie Reviews for Visually Impaired People

"Dead Man Walking," rated "R" and starring Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon, is a gripping, intense movie about a death row inmate and a nun who decides to counsel the murderer during his last weeks of life. Both Sarandon and Penn play their parts superbly, as they develop a fascinating relationship as the inevitability of his death grows nearer. The power of unconditional love is highlighted in this flick, based on a true story, along with the controversy surrounding the death penalty. This is a stimulating, thought provoking and compassionate movie, well worth seeing.

It's also worth seeing even if you don't have much sight. There are only two main characters who spend the bulk of the movie in one place, the jail cell of the murderer. The dialogue is constant, except for a few brief scenes, but as times I found it challenging because of the Louisiana accents. There was very little music throughout the whole movie making it much easier to follow. Music often can be extremely distracting when you don't have sight and you're trying to follow dialogue. There were a few scenes with visual flashbacks, occurring in the midst of conversation, which I would have missed completely if I did not go with a sighted assistant.

I'll rate this movie a solid 8 for the visually impaired.
