Chris, played by Robin Williams, and ihs wife, Ann, have a perfect life until their two children are killed in a car crash. Not long after Chris is also killed in another car crash and is met in heaven by his old friend and now spiritual guide played by Cuba Gooding. Heaven is blissful for Chris but when he learns that Ann has committed suicide and her spirit has gone to "the other place" his longing to find her drives him through unimagined torment and revelation.
From the visually impaired point of view: This movie was filled with colors and visual beauty, so I was told. From the beginning to the end I had everything to do to just have some semblance of what was going on. Tough movie. There were only a few characters and the story often unfolded at a reasonable pace. That's about all that was good. There were many scenes with almost no dialogue, but lots of things going on. I often needed a running description from my sighted assistant. It seemed like every couple of minutes there would be a flashback. Scenes jumped around and the flashbacks were at varying times which made it even more confusing. This movie was very difficult to follow, to the point where at times I felt like giving up with my attempt to stay connected to the story line.
I'll give this one a 3 and, unless you're a die-hard Robin Williams fan, I'll strongly discourage you from having to deal with such a struggle.
