John Kelso, played by John Cusack, has been hired by Town and Country magazine to do a small story on Jim Williams (Kevin Spacey) and his Savannah mansion. While receiving the grand tour of the mansion, Kelso witnesses an altercation between Williams and one of his hot-headed employees. The next day the employee is found shot to death in one of the rooms of the mansion. Williams is charged with murder, but pleads self defense. Kelso decides to turn these bizarre happenings into a book and, with the help of his new friend, Mandy, portrayed by Alison Eastwood, he attempts to help Williams and uncover the truth.
From the visually impaired point of view, this movie was pretty easy to follow. The beginning was challenging, as usual, but with a few descriptions from my sighted assistant, I was able to stay with the story. From that point on the film went slowly, with lots of dialogue. There were two main characters with only a few others in supportive roles. All the voices were easily distinguished. The music was subtle and tasteful throughout with no interference of the dialogue. There were large segments where I didn't need any information at all from my assistant.
I'll give this one an 8, but I still think you should go with a sighted assistant. There are a couple of scenes that would confuse you completely without visual descriptions.
