BLINDSPOTS:
Movie Reviews for Visually Impaired People

"Dear God," rated "PG" and with a running time of a little under two hours, is a light, silly and occasionally dumb movie with a very significant philosophical statement. Greg Kinnear and Tim Conway star in this flick about faith and good deeds that takes place in a post office in Southern California.

Tom Turner, played by Kinnear, is in debt from losing money on the horses and he gets arrested for pulling petty scams on innocent people. He's sentenced to one year of honest work or jail and grudgingly chooses work, getting a job in a post office. Although resistant and cynical towards anything good, he becomes fascinated by a bin of letters, addressed to God from people with problems.

From the visually impaired point of view, this movie began with lots of short, one minute scenes which were difficult to follow. There weren't many long silent visual scenes but I kept missing lots of brief subtleties that were too quick to be described by my sighted assistant. The voices were not very easy to differentiate, but there was consistent dialogue throughout and that certainly made the movie acceptable. If you like this type of light comedy, you might enjoy this movie. I'll give it a 6.
