BLINDSPOTS:
Movie Reviews for Visually Impaired People

"Lost World," rated "PG-13" and with a running time of a little more than two hours, is director Steven Spielberg's sequel to Jurassic Park. Starring Jeff Goldblum and Julianne Moore, this adventure flick about dinosaurs and pre-historic monster birds is pure entertainmnent, although the plot is a little boring, uncreative and right out of the formula for making these kinds of movies. There was the typical "fair maiden," the "good guy and hero," the "bad guys," the monsters, the typical scary scenes where the lead characters are saved just in the nick of time, etc. Some scenes were very similar to the classic movie, "Godzilla," and some of the music actually reminded me of the original "King Kong."

From the visually impaired point of view, this was about the toughest movie to follow since I started doing reviews. There was lots of music, lots of crashing sounds from things being constantly destroyed, very little dialogue and abrupt scene changes. My sighted assistant had to give me almost non-stop descriptions, and even then I had to strain my imagination to visualize what was going on. Very difficult. As much as you might love the idea of enjoying an adventure movie about dinosaurs, if you go to see "Lost World," I'm sad to say, you will actually be pretty lost. I think the experience will be quite sobering and a little depressing.

I'll give this movie a 2 and cannot recommend this at all.
