Travolta shows his flexibility as an actor with this role, excellently portraying a simple, honest man with good values.
From the visually impaired point of view. There were lots of long segments in this movie with dialogue that was easy to follow and the pace was not rushed. There were, however, four scenes with just music and no dialogue. These scenes would have thrown me off completely without a sighted assistant. There were also a couple of scenes that were noisy and chaotic and very difficult to comprehend without clarification from my sighted buddy. I enjoyed this movie but can only give it a rating of 6. It's worth going to see, but don't do this one alone.
P.S. I've noticed that almost all the coming attractions are very difficult to follow for the visually impaired. They are usually about two or three minute commercials, concocted to quickly grab the interest of the audience, which is assumed to be sighted. Thus they are very often a barrage of stimulating flashes that border on the useless for us as visually impaired movie-goers. I suggest that when you get in the theater, sit back and enjoy the popcorn, and don't bother much about the coming attractions. I think this will save you from starting your evening with five minutes of frustration.
